Buddy

My name is Buddy I am a Cockatiel, which is native to Australia.  I am not a rescued bird I was a gift.  Although I am a small version of a parrot, let me assure you that I have the courage and determination of a MUCH larger bird.  I fly even with my wings clipped.  If I want to get somewhere, I do!  If my wings do not take me in the entire way, I let my feet do the walking.

I am part of a multi-bird flock. I am social by nature and I am the bond that makes the flock.  My best friend is an African Grey named Shatner (see rescue story)   We socialize daily on our play stand, share food and enjoy eating together.  I make the perfect friend as I am a ground feeder and can be quite satisfied with the crumbs my large friend makes.  Wherever my friend Shatner is, I am there too.  I call to him when he is out of sight.  I stand real close to him with my head slightly bowed (below his foot) while he eats.  I want him to preen me.

At sun down, I sound the alarm letting the flock know that evening is approaching. I love showers and having my head scratched.  I say some words but am not a particularly avid speaker. This does not mean I cannot communicate my wants and needs.

I love showers and blow drying, and that is a good thing, since I am a dander bird. I enjoy eating fruits, vegetables, pasta, beans and lentils.
